A retired Lafayette police officer and Vietnam veteran has earned his first-degree black belt in taekwondo at the age of 68.
Ray Schexnider, who is soon to be 69, said he wasn’t sure if he’d reach black-belt status after beginning training three years prior.
Schexnider soon prevailed and was commemorated during a ceremony at Master Daigle’s Martial Arts today.
Master Gerald Daigle also had the name of Schexnider’s late son inscribed into his black belt.
