Women are coming together to help the community and change lives.

Lafayette Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build event started today. The women-led fundraising and building event is a Lafayette Habitat for Humanity annual initiative that empowers women to build homes, enabling them to positively impact the lives of families by making homeownership a present reality.

The group will be building four homes in the McComb Veezay neighborhood for 10 days.

“It’s fun today because we have Suzie, the homeowner of this house behind me, working alongside us for team IberiaBank,” said Beth Trotter, Exec. Vice President & CRA Director, IBERIABANK. “So it’s a really exciting day to kick-off a fun-filled 10 days of Women Build.”

In addition to individual donations made by event volunteers, presenting sponsor, IBERIABANK, donated funds to help cover the cost of construction materials needed for the project. Other event sponsors include Louisiana Housing Corporation, Alpha Omicron Pi fraternity, Lowe’s, Oge’s Rent-All Center, and Eagle Pest Control.
