UL students are learning more about mental illness and reading stories about people who struggled with it.
The university’s NAMI organization held its Hold onto Hope event, spreading nearly 600 book bags around campus.
Each bag had quotes, stories from those who have died as a result of mental illness, and local resource information.
“You’re not alone,” said Ali Hebert, Communication Coordinator, NAMI at UL. “There’s people who understand what you’re going through and they are here to hold your hand through it. And they love you. No matter if you don’t feel that way or anything like that, somebody does love you and you matter.”
