Police identify victim of fatal crash on Hwy 90 in Broussard

UPDATE: Broussard Police have identified the victim of Thursday morning’s fatal crash on US Hwy 90 in Broussard as 37-year-old Ashton Hurst.

The crash occurred around 6:19 am on Thursday morning according to Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou.  Officers say that a Chevrolet Malibu sedan traveling on US 90 East struck Hurst who was attempting to cross the highway while in his wheelchair.  The crash occurred near the intersection of N. Morgan.

Police say conditions outside were still dark at the time of the crash and that the driver of the Malibu was unable to see Hurst.

Broussard Police say they are working a fatal crash on Highway 90 East near N. Morgan.

The department posted to their Facebook page that all roads are currently open, but that motorists can expect heavy congestion near N. Morgan.

We have a crew heading to the scene and will have more information when it becomes available.
