The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is working a fatal shooting that happened overnight.

Deputies were called to Grossie Lane last night at about 11 p.m., a spokesman said. They found a man who had been shot. He was transported to a hospital, but he did not survive.

He’s identified as Brandon Broussard, 28, of Lafayette.

Friends and coaches confirm that Broussard was a local boxer. He was known as “King Tut” and has boxed professionally for several years. He trained at Carencro’s Backstreet Boxing Club, his friends tell KATC.

As a professional, Broussard had a record of five wins and three losses.
