The beautiful weather this weekend brought a lot of people out to Girard Park for Festival Acadiens Et Creoles.

From two stepping to Zydeco music, to mouth-watering food and refreshing drinks, Festival Acadiens has something for everyone.

“I mean what’s not to like?” said Veronica Beasley.

She and her group have been friends for years.

With their flag flying high over their tent, the group who calls themselves the “Pooyie Posse,” are enjoying every minute of the sunshine and tunes.

“We’ve just been listening and dancing and getting tired,” she laughed. “But that won’t stop us.”

Festival Acadiens is all about family, friends and having a lot of fun.

“We need another festival punch!” yelled some volunteers at a drink tent, while laughing and shaking cattle bells.

“We got a bunch of people here that I know, it’s all a group. We’re friends, family, and we love to work together outside of this and work together here,” said Brett Guidry, one of those volunteers.

And all of this is free, because of volunteers like these.

“It’s a free festival so we definitely want to keep everything rolling free and entertain the people as best we can. So volunteering at a festival like this helps to keep the music rolling and the good times going,” said Guidry.

You can also help keep festival free by purchasing the annual pins for $10 online at this link, or at the festival.
