UPDATE: The man who was shot last night by a Lafayette Police Officer has been identified as 19-year-old Keion Bonner of Lafayette.

Bonner is still in the hospital, a spokesman said.

Earlier today, Louisiana State Police said they are now investigating the officer-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday night in Lafayette.

Troopers say that their investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the 400 block of Hilda Street as officers with the Lafayette Police Department were responding to “criminal activity” in the area. While on scene officers encountered a suspect and an officer discharged their weapon striking that person.

The individual was treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital. Troopers say that no officers were injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
