A man wanted in connection with a Patterson shooting has been arrested after he was found swimming in a Lafayette lake near the Evangeline Thruway

Deputies say that around 10:50 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018, UL Lafayette Police were dispatched to the UL Lafayette Marine Survival Training Center in reference to a man who was seen swimming in the Airport Lake.

The man, identified as 26-year-old Randolph Joseph, allegedly refused to come out of the water, prompting officers to contact the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team for assistance.

Deputies provided assistance by boat and were able to get Joseph out of the water. He was then detained by officers.

Officials say it was learned that Joseph had an active warrant for his arrest out of Patterson for 2 counts of attempted murder, and multiple firearms charges.

Another suspect, 20-year-old Kirt Favors, Jr.,  is still wanted in that shooting. Read more on that shooting here

Joseph was subsequently arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
