Tonight, the Lafayette City-Parish Council will vote on a resolution calling a special election to create a property tax for the new Lafayette Rural Fire District. If approved, voters in the unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish will vote in December to accept or reject a new 10-mill property tax to fund their fire protection. A public hearing will proceed the vote. Tonight’s meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.
