The Lafayette Police Department says that they will conduct an OWI Checkpoint somewhere within the incorporated limits of Lafayette Today, Friday, August 31.
The checkpoint will take place between the hours of 9:00 pm and 3:00 am.
The department says the purpose of the checkpoint is to identify impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or other dangerous substances. Officers say they will respond with zero tolerance to those found to be under the influence. Drivers could face fines or jail time.
The department reminds those who intend to drink to designate a driver.
