UPDATE: An overwhelming amount of people turned out to volunteer for Big Brother Big Sister of Acadiana (BBBS) for children facing adversity in the community.
The waiting list for a Big Brother had been more than a year, until yesterday, after the KATC report on the need for volunteers aired.
The organization was short sixty plus volunteers, and now most of those spots have been filled, but officials say that there is still a significant need for help. For every Big Brother Big Sister match, there are three more children who sign up for the program. The group is also asking for monetary donations.
