The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team is proud to announce its recent partnership with the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR).

The National Association of Search and Rescue was started in 1972 and uses standards developed by respected bodies such as FEMA and DHS to build education courseware, publications and certifications. The material provided by NASAR is used by search and rescue teams like the LPSO’s to produce highly skilled searchers dedicated to serving communities nationwide.

Under the partnership, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue members are receiving the proper training to meet national search and rescue standards and certification requirements.

This collaboration with NASAR provides the opportunity for members of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team to qualify as instructors for search and rescue groups at agencies across Louisiana.
