Deputies: Inmate who escaped from Lafayette Parish Jail turns himself in

UPDATE: Ronrika Ben, who police say escaped custody at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on August 17, 2018 turned himself in Saturday night at 6:30.

Charges are pending.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office says they are searching for a man wanted for simple escape last week.

Deputies are asking the public to be on the lookout for 33-year-old  Ronrika Ben who escaped from custody at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on August 17, 2018.

He is described as 5’08” in height, 180 lbs with numerous tattoos.

Ben, according to deputies,  escaped from custody after being transported from a local medical facility.

Ben’s criminal history was provided by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s office and includes the following offenses.
• Simple Burglary
• Narcotics Possession
• Narcotics Distribution
• Traffic violations
• Escape
• Resisting an Officer
• Flight from an Officer
• Illegal Possession of Stolen Things
• Firearms violations
• Domestic abuse
• Child endangerment
