Scott Fire Department says that crews responded to a barn fire in the 2500 block of West Gloria Switch Road.

Officials say that heavy fire was coming from a barn upon their arrival. The barn had already collapsed as a result of the fire.

There was no damage to a home on the property which was located in front of the barn.

An investigation, according to a release, says the fire was accidental in nature, started by an electrical short of the barn.

At the time of the fire, there were two horses located inside the barn; one was able to successfully escape, while the other perished as a result of the fire.

The barn was a total loss. No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the incident.

Carencro, along with Scott and Duson fire crews are putting out hot spots.
