UPDATE, 11:30 p.m.: Interstate 10 is now fully open after an 18-wheeler carrying hazardous material overturned nearly 17 hours ago.
State police say the truck carrying ethylene dichloride (1, 2-trichloroethane) overturned at Mile Marker 117 before Henderson around 7:30 a.m. The chemical is highly toxic and flammable.
Westbound traffic is being diverted at LA 415 (Lobdell) to U.S. 190 West, while eastbound traffic was being diverted onto I-49 North to U.S. 190 East.
According to DOTD, congestion has cleared at the I-10/I-49 split.
Drivers are urged to take an alternate route.
