A group of residents in Lafayette is voicing their concerns over crews working on underground lines and the damage they are causing.

Residents say that crews with AT&T started damaging water lines, water mains, and gas lines in an attempt to lay fiber optics over the past week. After reaching out to officials, residents say their voices have not been heard.

Monday afternoon, the neighborhood gathered to bring forward their complaints.

Laura Wilson, a resident on Omega Drive for over 50 years says the work contractor and AT&T was set to meet with the group Monday in an attempt to resolve the issues.

“Nobody cares, and they’re destroying our yards,” Wilson said. “We’ve come together as a neighborhood and we are having a meeting.”

Wilson explains that even if work has to continue, residents would rather crews take care to not damage their neighborhoods. They hope for a resolution and that someone will take responsibility for what’s already been done.

“This is our neighborhood. We care and somebody needs to care about us,” Wilson said.
