I-10 West is closed near Scott after an 18-wheeler traveling on I-10 East crossed the median and hit a vehicle in the westbound lane.
The driver of the car was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Chief Chad Leger says that police and hazmat crews are currently on scene of the crash. The 18-wheeler was carrying a chemical and crews are trying to determine whether it is hazardous. The roadway is expected to be shut down for a period of time while crews are on the scene.
According to DOTD, congestion from the incident has reached Ambassador Caffery. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.
