Some Mardi Gras festivities are still happening in 2021 despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Registration is now open for Krewe de Canailles. The krewe will feature a modified format next year.

"Sub-krewes" will be set up at designated locations to allow the public to cruise by and see costumes and decorations.

"Think Christmas - like going around viewing decorations, just with Mardi Gras flavor. The theme is 'Oh the places we didn't go,' so basically when you have the
theme you get to make anything creative in that realm," explained Olatunte Soyombo, a Krewe de Canailles board member.

"When we started planning for 2021," said Blaze Peterson, co-founder and president of Krewe de Canailles, "It was difficult. Yet, with the format for 2021, we've found a way to still spark that Mardi Gras magic, while keeping our members and the public safe."
