KATC honored with 17 awards from Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press competition

KATC’s news team has been honored with 17 awards, including 6 first-place awards, from the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors competition.

The two-state contest, which received more than 1,200 entries, was sponsored by the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU and honors the best in professional journalism in 2019.

First Place Honors:

Feature: “Out of the Shadows” – Daniel Phillips, Justin Terro

Breaking Weather: “Hurricane Barry” – KATC staff (with assistance from our Scripps colleagues)

Investigative Reporting: “The List” – KATC Investigative Team

TV Reporter – Jim Hummel

Overall Achievement in Louisiana: KATC staff

Best Newscast – KATC staff (with assistance from our Scripps colleagues during Hurricane Barry)
