JEFFERSON DAVIS PARISH, La. – A Jennings teen has been arrested for setting a fire inside of an abandoned auto shop, according to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal.

Peyton Legros, 18, was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail on Monday on one count of simple arson. He faces additional charges from another agency, the Office stated in a release.

In the morning hours of June 3, the Jennings Fire Department responded to a commercial fire located in the 400 block of W. Shanklin Street. Firefighters located a small fire on the floor of the business.

State Fire Marshal deputies were requested to assist with the investigation and confirmed the fire was intentionally set, according to the Fire Marshal’s Office.

Investigators learned Legros was spotted leaving the structure as the fire department was arriving and was taken into custody by Jennings Police.

In an interview with investigators, Legros admitted to being inside of the building at the time of the fire and using a fire extinguisher, according to the Office. He was then placed under arrest on the arson charge.
