A Texas woman involved in a crash last month in Jeff Davis Parish has succumbed to her injuries.
On February 20, shortly after 9:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Hwy. 165, south of Carl Hoppe Road.
Troopers say 95-year-old Mildred C. Powell, of Beaumont, Texas, was driving north on the highway when, for unknown reasons, she rear-ended a 28-foot camper trailer being pulled by a pick-up truck. Powell’s vehicle veered off the right side of the road and ended up in a ditch.
Both drivers were properly restrained; however, Powell was taken to a hospital in Lake Charles for moderate injuries she sustained during the crash.
On February 27, Powell succumbed to those injuries sustained during the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
