The State Fire Marshal’s Office says that two teens were arrested for allegedly setting a Jeanerette Park bathroom on fire.
The Marshal’s Office says the boys, ages 17 and 16, were arrested and booked Wednesday on one count Simple Arson. The two were released to the custody of their parents, according to a release.
Deputies say they were called to Jeanerette City Park on Wednesday evening, March 27, to investigate the cause of a fire inside the men’s restroom building.
An investigation determined that the fire originated in a toilet dispenser and that the fire was intentionally set. Witness statements and collaboration with Jeanerette Police led deputies to identify the suspects and bring them in for questioning.
Deputies say during questioning the teens allegedly admitted to starting the fire.
