UPDATE
NEW IBERIA, La. – No one was injured in an overnight fire in Iberia Parish.
Firefighters responded to the house fire Thursday around 1:30 a.m. on Steven Street off of E. Old Spanish Trail (LA 182) in New Iberia.
It took 20 minutes to get the fire under control, according to Guy Bonin, Iberia Parish Fire District.
The fire departments that responded were Iberia Parish Fire District, B.O.M. Fire Dept., Rynella Volunteer Fire Dept. and Grand Marais Volunteer Fire Dept.
Firefighters believe the fire started in a small room in the garage, stated Bonin.
The fire was contained to the garage and the home is not a total loss, he added.
