SLCC’s Corporate College will host a job fair focused on the Industrial Trades this week.

Welders, HVAC repair people, truck drivers, carpenters, equipment operators, lineman, laborers, electricians, and other skilled tradespeople will have an opportunity to meet local companies hiring for positions in the industrial trades.

The job fair will be Thursday, February 7 from 9am-noon at the New Iberia Campus located at 908 Ember Dr.

This is a free event that is open to the public.  Job seekers can pre-register for the Industrial Trades Job Fair at http://bit.ly/IndustrialTrades.  Job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their work history and industry certifications.

Local companies will be able to exhibit at no charge.  SLCC’s Corporate College requires only that exhibitors have current job openings or will have job openings within the next 60 days in the industrial trades.

“Our goal for the Industrial Trades Job Fair is to match local employers with the skilled tradespeople they need to keep their businesses growing,” stated Nancy Roy, Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for SLCC’s Corporate College.  “We’ve found that more companies are routing people to an online application, but their hiring base would prefer a face-to-face interaction, which is why job fairs are a necessary part of the recruiting process.”

Halliburton, Shamrock, Sterling Automotive, Bay LTD, Cargrill, OMNI Environmental, RoyOMartin, and Schlumberger are just a few of the companies that will be represented at the event.

SLCC’s Corporate College was established in 2015. This division of SLCC offers short-term training for in-demand jobs to meet the needs of the community’s workforce.
