Investigators say the fire occurred in the 2500 block of Admiral Doyle in New Iberia and that firefighters were able to extinguish a pile of burning clothes found in a bathroom of the home.

Deputies with the fire marshal’s office began investigating and found that Landry allegedly locked himself inside the bathroom of the home and set the clothes on fire. According to witnesses, Landry set the clothes on fire after talking to deputies through the bathroom window.

Six other people, including four children, were in the home at the time of the incident.

Landry was removed from the home by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Department and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Upon release from the hospital, Landry was placed under arrest, according to investigators.
