Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man wanted for murder following a shooting Friday night.
Deputies were notified of the shooting shortly after 8 p.m. They say it happened at a home on Leonce Theriot Road off of Highway 14.
According to a spokesman with the sheriff’s office, Kristian Broussard shot 38-year-old Richard Southern several times during an argument.
Southern was taken to the hospital but died a short time late.
Neighbors say an incident like this is out of the ordinary for the area, but Broussard is often involved in suspicious activity.
“You could kind of see that he was trouble. Other neighbors say that he’s been a problem around here for a while. I’ve seen the cops come here recently and arrest him,” says Tyler Dupuis, who lives across the street from Broussard.
Deputies say Broussard fled the scene in a green 2000 Chevrolet Impala with the Louisiana license plate 957ARY. He was last seen with two females in the vehicle, the spokesman says.
Deputies have obtained an arrest warrant for second-degree murder.
Broussard is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information about his location is asked to call he Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, 337-369-3711, or Iberia Crime Stoppers, 337-364-TIPS.
