The New Iberia Police Department says a teenager has died after a shooting Friday morning on St. Jude Street.
Police say they received a report of the shooting around 2:39 am. Upon arrival, police say that a 16-year-old was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment but later died as a result of his injuries.
The victim was not identified by police.
Police say they are working on discovering leads in the case. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
