New Iberia Police say they arrested one person and turned over several others wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Terrebonne Parish on Christmas Day.

Deputies in Terrebonne informed the NIPD that several suspects wanted in connection to an early morning armed robbery in Terrebonne were believed to be heading for the New Iberia area. A description of the suspects and their vehicle was provided to police.

Police say that later Tuesday morning an NIPD patrol officer located the vehicle and suspects matching the description at a gas station on Hopkins Street.

Police say that while attempting to detain the individuals, a firearm was discharged inside the vehicle. No one inside or outside the vehicle was injured.

The suspects were detained and a search of the vehicle uncovered the firearm. Police say one individual inside the vehicle was attempting to hide the firearm when it discharged. That individual, identified as Jasmin Francisco, was arrested and booked on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm as well as the warrant issued by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for armed robbery.
