LA State Police: On December 23, 2018, the New Iberia Police Department requested Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations investigate an officer involved shooting.
The preliminary investigation revealed that shortly after 2:00 am, an officer with the New Iberia Police Department attempted to arrest a subject near the 100 block of Main St. While attempting to effect the arrest, the officer became involved in a struggle with several subjects. During the altercation, the officer discharged his service weapon, striking a subject.
The subject and officer were treated at the scene for injuries, then transported to a local hospital. Both have been released from the hospital, and at this time the subjects involved are in custody.
