A Loreauville man is thousands of dollars richer after winning a million dollars during the Dec. 4 Mega Millions drawing.
Vince Dorsey purchased the winning ticket from the village’s Corner Grocery two days before the drawing.
According to a spokesperson with the Louisiana Lottery Corporation, Dorsey didn’t plan on purchasing a ticket for that particular drawing.
“I had stopped [at Corner Grocery] to put diesel in my truck,” the winner explained. When the receipt for the fuel mistakenly didn’t print, he went into the store. “I just told them to give me two quick picks,” he said.
Dorsey received $710,000 after state and federal taxes were withheld. He plans to put his new cash toward his savings and his daughter’s college tuition.
The jackpot for the early December drawing was $208 million. The winning numbers were 28,31,41,42,50, and Powerball 4.
