Fire investigators believe arson may have been involved in a New Iberia fire.
The New Iberia Fire Department responded to a fire in the1200 block of West St. Peter Street near Landry Street at 10:08 pm Monday. Fire Chief Gordon Copell said the cause appears to be arson because the structure was an old commercial building that did not have utilities hooked up.
Firefighters cleared the scene 11 hours after it started and no other structure was damaged.
One firefighter was injured and has since been released from the hospital, stated the chief.
