Iberia to conduct mosquito abatement operations this week

The Iberia Parish Mosquito Abatement District plans to conduct aerial operations within parish over the next three weeks.

Operations are scheduled to take place two days this week. These operations will target areas where persistent mosquito populations have been detected. As long as weather conditions remain favorable, operations will begin near sunset at last for an hour and a half.

Scheduled dates and locations include:

Wednesday (10/17) – operations will encompass Hwy 88 / Coteau Rd., Coteau, the Acadiana Regional Airport, Livingston Rd. west to the Parish line, Romero Rd., Coteau park, Hwy. 90 and all points in between.

Thursday (10/18) – Coteau Holmes Gondron, Oday, Harold Landry west to Rodrigue Rd. and all points in between. Followed by Sugar Oaks operations will focus in Sugar Oaks, Daspit, Interlaken, Vida Shaw, Loreauville, Ed Broussard and all points in between.

The District says that those who are hypersensitive or wish to avoid exposures to chemicals remain inside during spraying operations. When the low-flying aircraft are in the area residents are advised to not attempt to follow their path.
