Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputies have identified the fisherman whose body was found in the Atchafalaya Basin.
Leonard Norbert, 58, of New Iberia was participating in a fishing tournament but hadn’t checked in, so deputies were called. They found his boat in the Mud Cove area of the basin. Deputies, Wildlife and Fisheries agents and Norbert’s friends began searching.
The coroner’s office will determine the cause of death, deputies said.
