Applications are now open for agencies interested in providing Head Start and Early Head Start services in Lafayette, Iberia, and St. Martin parishes.
According to The Advocate, the selected organizations will replace the federal contractor that temporarily took over the programs in 2017 when the SMILE Community Action Agency lost its federal grant.
SMILE is excluded from competing for the $12.4 million grant and other grants for five years from their 2017 grant termination.
Agencies have until January 13 to apply.
Private and Public agencies including city governments, parish governments, independent school districts, public and private institutions of higher education, public housing authorities, nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status, and small businesses can apply.
