Acadiana residents have the chance to participate in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries' annual Get Out and Fish! Derby set for Thanksgiving week.
LDWF has stocked 16 ponds throughout the state with tagged, adult channel catfish in preparation for the derby. All levels and ages are eligible to participate.
The Acadiana locations are:
- I-10 Park – Jennings, LA
- Girard Park – Lafayette, LA
- Southside Regional Park/Fabacher Field – Youngsville, LA
The derby will start on Saturday, November 21, and run through Sunday, November 29. Anyone who catches tagged catfish at designated ponds during those dates can report tag information to win an LDWF prize. Each tag has a corresponding prize.
Ages 16 and older must have a Louisiana fishing license. For more information, rules, and a list of designated ponds, click here.
