On Friday, family and friends gathered for a vigil to remember two year old Mar'Kavian Cormier who died earlier this week.

His mother, who was charged with negligent homicide in the shooting death of her son is out on bond, and was at the vigil in his memory.

Mar'Kavian's grandfather, Robert Cormier says this has been a long week, but the toughest days are ahead.

"King went to meet his King. We really love the support, but this is just the beginning. Its going to get tougher and tougher toward the end of the week," Robert Cormier said.

Family members are standing my Ma'Kayla Cormier, saying she was a good mother. However, there are still so many questions about the circumstances surrounding her sons death.

"My daughter, she couldn't even stay. I think it finally hit her. It's about to get serious. There is a lot of unanswered questions, but those questions have to get answered. It all starts with accountability and responsibility. We aint gone stop until we get it," Robert Cormier said.

The family says they are grateful for the two years they had with Mar'Kavian.

"He touched people that didn't even know him. He had all kind of people crying for him, wanting to help, do benefit dinners, and everything," Deiondre Solomon said.

The family says they still have so many questions about the night Mar'Kavian died.

"In life and in death he is doing it on his own. He is making sure-- y'all not going to forget me," Markarra Frances said.

The family is asking for continued prayers as they grieve and the investigation continues.
