Lafayette families had the chance to gather in the Parc Saturday for two events that were guaranteed to spread the fall cheer.

Downtown Lafayette and Latter & Blum are partnering to hold Pumpkins in the Parc, an annual fundraiser benefiting nonprofits in Acadiana, and Movies in the Parc.

The pumpkin festival team provided paint, markers, decorating materials, and pumpkins to attendees. Judges then selected first, second, and third place winners in various categories. Cash prizes were awarded.

The festival is partnering with Movies in the Parc, a fundraiser series for Downtown Lafayette presented by Lafayette Kiwanis and the ACLA Latin Music Festival. Saturday's featured movie is Jurassic Park.

Participants must wear masks and practice social distancing. Children under the age of eight are encouraged to wear a mask. Everyone was encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and other creature comforts to enjoy the movie.

Painted pumpkin contest winners were announced at approximately 6:30 pm and the movie began around 7:00 pm.

"By coming out today and spending time with their family, all their registration fees as well as the sponsorships from our gracious donors allows us to give money back to the community," explained Troy Hebert, Manager and Broker for Latter and Blum. "So have fun, spend time with your families, and give back at the same time."
