There have been several reports recently of threats of mass shootings at Walmart stores.
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office said that the threats are occurring nationwide.
There have been threats reported in South Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia.
They also say local law enforcement has been notified of the threat that is circulating.
As of now, it seems there have been no direct threats to any local Walmart stores.
Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson said that he is not aware of any threat and there has been "no intelligence" of a threat.
Corporal Bridgette Dugas, PIO for the Lafayette Police Department, said that LPD has "not received any intelligence information" regarding the two Walmart stores in Lafayette. She added that the department has not increased police presence at the stores.
