Saturday, July 4, was the last day of early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary in Louisiana.
Early voting ended 6 p.m. today.
In Lafayette Parish, the numbers show more people chose to cast their ballots through mail than in person. According to the Registrar of Voters Office, a total of 3,334 voters used mail-in ballots throughout the parish, while 2,203 voted in person.
Only registered Democrats and Republicans are eligible to vote in their party's respective Presidential Preference Primary, while voters in 24 parishes, regardless of party, may have a local election on their ballot. Read more on that here.
Voters can utilize the GeauxVote mobile app to locate their early voting site, election day voting site, view their sample ballot, and more. This information can also be located on the Secretary of State's Voter Portal.

If you vote in person, bring your Louisiana driver's license, a Louisiana Special ID or a generally recognized ID with picture and signature. Voters may also now use a digital license via LA Wallet.
In response to COVID-19, polling commissioners will be regularly sanitizing voting machines and other common areas. Hand sanitizer will be provided to voters; masks are recommended, but not required.
Election Day for the Presidential Preference Primary and Municipal Primary is Saturday, July 11, from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
