DOHA, Qatar — Former Lafayette High and LSU pole vaulter Mando Duplantis has a new medal for his collection.

Duplantis won the silver medal at the IAAF World Championships with a vault of 5.97 meters (19 feet, 9 inches), the best mark at the tournament since 2001. That mark matched that of reigning world champion Sam Kendricks. The American earned his second consecutive world title based on fewer misses.

Duplantis is now setting his sights on a gold medal at next year's Tokyo Summer Olympics.
