Today and tomorrow, job seekers in Acadiana can attend informational sessions for jobs available with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) as part of a series of state-agency recruitment events held in Louisiana this month.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) has teamed up with local workforce development boards and American Job Centers to hold nine state-agency recruiting events in the month of September. The upcoming event includes eight sessions - four in Opelousas and four in Lafayette - to be held at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on both days. Sessions will focus on available jobs at DCFS, including Child Welfare Specialist Trainees and Social Services Analysts.

The informational sessions will take place at the following locations:

· Tues., Sept. 24 - Opelousas Business & Career Solutions Center/American Job Center, 1065 LA-79, Opelousas, LA, 70570; and

· Wed., Sept. 25 - Lafayette Library Main, 301 W. Congress, Lafayette, LA, 70501.

LWC employees will be on hand at the event to offer Civil Service testing tips, job application instructions and job-search assistance in HiRE - or Helping Individuals Reach Employment - the LWC's online job-search tool. Register at www.la.works.net, and visit https://jobs.civilservice.louisiana.gov/ to search Louisiana Civil Service for job openings, testing information, sample test questions and information for Veterans or job seekers with disabilities.

Job seekers who attend the sessions are also encouraged to dress professionally and to bring valid identification, as well as their rèsumès. Need rèsumè assistance? The LWC is ready to help Louisiana residents polish their rèsumès via 62 one-stop American Job Centers all across the state, including nine in Acadiana alone.
