Man arrested in connection with shooting in Lake Charles

A Lake Charles man has been arrested in connection with a Monday night shooting, according to Lake Charles Police.

43-year-old John Orphey, III was arrested on Wednesday after detectives gained information connecting him to a shooting in the 2200 block of See Street.

Officers say that one person was injured during the shooting on Monday night and was transported to the hospital with numerous gunshot wounds.

A warrant was issued for Orphey’s arrest on one count of aggravated 2nd-degree battery.

Detectives located Orphey on Wednesday in the 3500 block of 5th Avenue. He was arrested and later booked on an upgraded charge of attempted 2nd-degree murder. Orphey’s bond was set at $1,100,000.

The victim in the shooting is currently in stable condition at a Lake Charles hospital.
