'Blue Mass' being held to honor first responders

LAFAYETTE, La. — The Diocese of Lafayette will hold a special "Blue Mass" on Friday to honor first responders in the community.

According to a release, the Blue Mass will take place on Friday, Oct 2, at 12:05 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette.

Oct. 2 is the Feast Day of the Guardian Angels, the release states.

Bishop Douglas Deshotel will conduct the may to say thank you and pray for the continued safety of local law enforcement officers, state troopers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel and all those who put themselves in harm's way each day to protect and serve others.
