We've started to compile a list of events that have been canceled and places that have been closed ahead of the storm.

LOUISIANA

The Louisiana Department of Health closed oyster beds in areas 1-22 beginning in advance of the landfall of Tropical Storm Barry.
This includes areas from Lake Borgne to the mouth of the Atchafalaya River. This closure is being taken as a precautionary measure due to Tropical Storm Barry affecting the health of oysters in these harvest areas. These shellfish-growing areas will remain closed until state health officials determine the waters are clear and within approved area criteria established by the National Shellfish Sanitation Program.

Due to continued power outages associated with Hurricane Barry, Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne is announcing that state offices in Assumption, Iberia and St. Mary parishes will remain closed Monday, July 15, 2019.

ACADIA PARISH

The July 13, 2019 administration of the ACT, scheduled to be given at LSU Eunice has been canceled due in inclement weather. The reschedule date will be posted on the ACT site.

The scheduled Summer Concerts of the Eunice Community Concert Band and Choir, scheduled for July 11 and 12, are postponed. A new date has not yet been set.

LSU Eunice will be closed on Friday, July 12 due to expected inclement weather and the potential for flooding in southwest Louisiana. All classes and events scheduled for Friday are canceled. This includes classes at LSUA and Lafayette General Orthopedic Hospital.

All parish courthouses of the 15th Judicial District - Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion - will close at noon on Friday, July 12, due to inclement weather conditions. The parish courthouses will reopen for business as usual on Monday, July 15.

CALCASIEU PARISH

ACT has canceled the test scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 13, at LaGrange High School. Those who were registered to take it will receive a new registration ticket directly from ACT.

EVANGELINE PARISH

The Ville Platte main library will be closed on Saturday, July 13. The main library and all branches may close early on Friday, July 12 and possibly have a late opening next week.

IBERIA PARISH

Iberia Council on Aging WILL NOT be delivering meals tomorrow due to power outages and the Meal Sites in New Iberia, Jeanrette and Loreauville will be closed tomorrow.

Iberia Parish Summer School program will be closed Friday, July 12. All Iberia Parish School System office buildings will also be closed.

The ACT scheduled for Saturday at New Iberia Senior High has been canceled. The test will be rescheduled.

Iberia Parish government offices will be closed on Friday, July 12. The offices should reopen on Monday, July 15.

Iberia Council on Aging will not be delivering home delivered meals on Friday, July 12. Meal sites in New Iberia, Jeanerette, and Loreauville will also be closed.

St. Marcellus Church in New Iberia has canceled its services for Saturday and Sunday.

LAFAYETTE PARISH

All Lafayette Parks and Recreation Summer Enrichment Program and Therapeutic Day Camps will be closed on Monday, July 15, 2019, due to inclement weather. All programs will resume on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.

Lafayette Parish is currently under a state of emergency, according to Lafayette City-Parish President Joel Robideaux.

Due to projected heavy rains and strong winds the sobriety checkpoint scheduled for this Friday (7/12/19) has been canceled.

The ACT scheduled for this Saturday morning (July 13, 2019) in Griffin Hall on the campus of the University of Louisiana will be rescheduled. The ACT will contact all students who have signed up to take the test. If someone was scheduled to take their test on Saturday and has questions, they can contact ACT or log in to their ACT Student Services Account. UL Lafayette will work with ACT and with test-takers to reschedule at a later date.

ACT testing scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Acadiana High School is canceled and will be rescheduled. ACT will contact all students, via email, who have signed up to take the test with the rescheduled date.

Acadian Cultural Center at 501 Fisher Road in Lafayette will be closed on Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12.

LSU Eunice classes at Lafayette General Orthopedic Hospital will be canceled on Friday, July 12 due to expected inclement weather and potential flooding.

Impulse Baseball 8U tryouts scheduled for July 13 at Scott Park has been canceled. The new tryout date is Tuesday, July 16th, 6:00 Pm at Pelican Park.

All South Louisiana Community College campuses will be closed Friday, July 12 due to inclement weather. All activities planned Friday and throughout the weekend will be rescheduled. Visit GetAGamePlan.org for preparation checklists and plans. All campuses are expected to resume
normal operations Monday, July 15.

PlanLafayette’s July session on Sustainability from Community to Campus on Tuesday, July 16th at the LITE Center will be postponed. Please check back for the revised date next week or follow Lafayette Comprehensive Plan on Facebook for updates. All registered attendees will be notified directly.

Faith Community United Methodist in Broussard will be closed Sunday.

Acadian Cultural Center, 501 Fisher Road, Lafayette, and Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 West Park Avenue, Eunice, will be closed Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12, due to the threat of the predicted tropical storm/hurricane. Some sites may re-open on Saturday, July 13, but even if sites re-open, all Saturday programs and events have been cancelled. The following areas will be closed

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be closed Friday, July 12, due to the threat of potential flooding in Acadiana from Tropical Storm Barry. All Friday classes are canceled. UL Lafayette expects to re-open and resume classes on Monday, July 15. Employees should not report to campus on Friday. Essential personnel should check with their supervisors. Participants of activities scheduled on campus, including athletic and academic summer camps, will be contacted directly by their event coordinators. All campus buildings will be closed, except for Cypress Lake Dining Hall during dining hours.

The Hilliard Museum will be closed Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 due to weather concerns. The museum will reopen to the public for our regular business hours on Tuesday, July 16.

All parish courthouses of the 15th Judicial District - Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion - will close at noon on Friday, July 12, due to inclement weather conditions. The parish courthouses will reopen for business as usual on Monday, July 15.

The boating safety class scheduled for Saturday, July 13, at the LDWF office in Lafayette on Dulles Dr. has been cancelled.

The Lafayette division of the Louisiana Western District Court will be closed on Friday, July 12.

All Lafayette Parish School System facilities are closed on Friday, July 12. All summer programs including summer feeding programs are cancelled. Essential personnel do not need to report to work; however, all should be on standby in the event they are needed.

The Broussard Sports Complex at St. Julien Park will close at noon on Friday 7/12 and will remain closed until further notice. We encourage all residents to stay connected with us for further updates.

City Court of Lafayette will close at noon on Friday, July 12. The City Court will reopen as usual on Monday, July 15.

The Emergency Services Building that houses Scott Police Department and Scott Volunteer Fire Department is open and will remain open during normal business hours until further notice. Those that wish to pay citations are encouraged to pay online using their credit/debit card or pay by mail with a money order. Here's the link for online payments. The Scott Police Department is temporarily suspending fingerprinting services and vehicle inspections until further notice. The Scott Mayor’s Court scheduled for March 31, 2020, at 5:30pm, will continue as scheduled.

SMILE Community Action Agencies in St. Martin, Iberia, and Lafayette Parishes will be closed on Friday, July 12.

The Lafayette Farmer's and Artisan's Market has been canceled for this weekend, Saturday, July 13.

Infinity College to the list of closures for Friday, July 12, 2019.

The UL Lafayette Upward Bound Non-residential Session set for Saturday, July 13 has been rescheduled for July 20.

All Lafayette Parks and Recreation Summer Enrichment Programs and Therapeutic Day Camps will be closed on Friday, July 12. All programs will resume on Monday, July 15.

LCG's Department of Public Works has announced that the Lafayette Transit System is suspending service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12 and continuing through the weekend. Night Owl and Paratransit services are also suspended. Weather permitting, services will resume on Monday, July 15.

Lafayette Public Library will close Friday, July 12 at 12:00 pm due to inclement weather. The library will remain closed on Saturday, July 13. The library system expects to resume regular hours on Sunday, July 14. For updates, stay tuned to our social media channels or visit LafayettePublicLibrary.org. The LCG temporary sandbag site at the South Regional Library back parking lot (6101 Johnston St., Lafayette) remains accessible to Lafayette Parish residents as of Friday, July 12.

First Lutheran Church on Farrel Rd. will not have Sunday service due to Hurricane Barry.

The adoption event previously scheduled for this Saturday, July 13, at the Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center (LASCC) has been cancelled due to severe weather expected from Tropical Storm Barry.

Cité des Arts will be canceling the shows scheduled for this weekend, July 12 to 14, of its production of The Fantasticks and adjusting the run schedule accordingly: July 17, 18, 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. and July 20 and 21 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets pre-purchased for the July 12-14 shows will be honored on these other nights. Bayou Vermilion District and Vermilionville Living History Museum & Folkife Park will be closed on Saturday, July 14th. According to the National Weather Service, the Vermilion River is projected to rise to 15 feet by Sunday, July 14th. Remain off the river until levels are below flood stage (10 feet) for your safety. Here's an additional message from Rev. Rusty RIchard, pastor: Both the 5 PM Mass this afternoon, Sunday, July 14th and the 6:30 AM Mass tomorrow, Monday, July 15th are CANCELED. The weather forecast continues to call for tropical rain bands, some potentially severe, through tomorrow afternoon. Civil authorities continue to ask that people stay off the roads. Downed trees, power lines and additional flooding are still expected.
Let us continue to keep our community, friends, and family in our prayers as we ask God to watch over us all.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard has canceled the Saturday, July 13 5:00pm Mass. Updates about our July 14 Sunday Masses will be posted when available.

Bishop Douglas Deshotel of the Diocese of Lafayette has released a statement concerning Mass Attendance:

“All parishioners are urged to use good judgment when planning to travel to and from Mass. In the event that roadways are not clear and weather conditions are unsafe to travel, the faithful are reminded that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass does not apply when there is grave difficulty in fulfilling this obligation (see Code of Canon Law, Canon 1248 §2).”

Vineyard Church of Lafayette will be cancelling services Sunday July 14.

Family Life Church on Dulles Drive in Lafayette has canceled on Sunday July 14.

Due to the threat of flooding and high winds, all Lafayette General Urgent Care Centers, including the Urgent Care Clinic at UHC, will be closed on Saturday, July 13.

Lafayette General Urgent Care Centers are located in River Ranch, Sugar Mill Pond and in Carencro. Pending weather and road conditions, the Urgent Care Centers will reopen on Sunday.

St Jules Church in Lafayette has cancelled Mass at 4 pm today and Sunday at 8 am. Depending on weather, mass at 10 tentatively still scheduled. There will be an additional mass Sunday at 6 pm.

Asbury United Methodist Church at 101 Live Oak Boulevard and Johnston Street in Lafayette has canceled all worship services for Sunday, July 14 due to Tropical Storm Barry. This announcement includes 8:30am, 9:45am, and 11:00am services in the Sanctuary, and 11:00am services in Spiritwind Worship Center. Asbury United Methodist’s offices will reopen on Monday if it is safe to do so.

ST. LANDRY PARISH

The Louisiana Orphan Train Museum's annual Gathering scheduled for Saturday July 10 has been canceled because of the expected weather. Organizers will reschedule for a later date.

Prarie Acadia Cultural Center at 250 West Park Avenue in Eunice will be closed on Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12.

Blue Ribbon Camp in Grand Coteau will be closed Friday, July 12.

St. John Baptist Church has cancelled services on Sunday, July 14.

Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church has cancelled services on Sunday, July 14.

ST. MARY PARISH

The schools and offices of the St. Mary Parish School Board will remain closed on Monday, July 15 in order to address storm-related damages from Hurricane Barry.

After evaluating the potential for severe weather conditions due to the tropical system in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, Dr. Bagwell, Superintendent of Schools, has announced the suspension of all St. Mary Parish school summer activities and closure of offices on Friday, July12th. The Department of Homeland Security advised government agencies of the storm’s impact in a briefing this morning, leading to the decision to close out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students and staff.

Bikers on the Bayou in Morgan City , the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Easy Rider has been rescheduled to August 24, 2019.

The City Court of Morgan City will be closed on Friday, July 2019, due to the severe weather approaching the tri-city area.

VERMILION PARISH

The ACT scheduled for Saturday, July 13 at Vermilion Catholic High School in Abbeville has been canceled due to inclement weather. A rescheduled date will be posted on the actstudent.org website as soon as one is decided. Those registered for the exam at Vermilion Catholic High School will receive notification from ACT.

All parish courthouses of the 15th Judicial District - Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion - will close at noon on Friday, July 12, due to inclement weather conditions. The parish courthouses will reopen for business as usual on Monday, July 15.

ST. MARTIN PARISH

St. Martin Parish government offices and the Clerk of Court, Courhouse, and Tax Assessor's Office will be closed on Friday, July 12. The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Administrative Offices will also be closed on Friday.

The St. Martin Parish Council on Aging will not be delivering meals on Friday, July 12 due to weather concerns. All other services will continue as normal from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.

ACADIANA/STATEWIDE

The Louisiana Department of Corrections has cancelled all prisoner visitation at its state-run facilities until further notice. This cancellation effects Allen Correctional Center, BB Sixty Rayburn Correctional Center, David Wade Correctional Center, Dixon Correctional Institute, Elayn Hunt Correctional Center, Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women, Louisiana State Penitentiary, and Raymond Laborde Correctional Center.
Visitation will resume following the storm, and when all of these institutions are able conduct visitation. The DOC will notify the public when visitation resumes.

All 5 locations of the Boy's and Girl's Club of Acadiana will be closed Friday, July 12.
