The African American Heritage Foundation is hosting Creole Rendezvous today in Heymann Park in Lafayette.

Today's event is the first of two; the second will be held on October 19.

The event starts at 11:00 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m.

Creole Rendezvous allows visitors to experience Creole culture at its finest - this month, the event features a black pot cook off, a mini trail ride, farmer's market, arts, crafts, French speaking lessons, and more!

Music will be provided by Chris Ardoin and the NuStep Zydeko. There will also be food vendors.

Co-chair of the event, Rudy Alfred, and Sandra Robinson, chairperson, explained what they love about the Rendezvous.

"Our favorite part about today's event is just...able to have people come out, enjoy our culture, learn the heritage, learn the history, and just come out and have a good time and enjoy the music with Chris Ardoin and NuStep Zydeko."
