Acadiana's latest unemployment claims

More than 6 million unemployment claims were made last week, Labor Department says

In Acadiana, 6,939 workers sought first time unemployment benefits in the week ending May 2, 2020. The total number of claims in the Regional Labor Market Area 4 which includes Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary and Vermilion from the week prior was 8,530.

The initial unemployment insurance claims for the state in the week ending May 2, 2020, dropped to 50,941 from the week ending April 25, 2020, total of 66,141.
