Acadiana voters will select four members of BESE

All eight seats on the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education are up for grabs this fall.

Of the eight BESE seats, four of them represent parts of Acadiana. To see the district map, click here. If you're not sure, click here to search by your address.

All of the candidates have Facebook pages offering information about their platforms, backgrounds and campaign activities. We've linked each page to the candidate's name below.

In District 3, "Sandy" LeBlanc Holloway of Thibodaux and Janice Perea of Houma are running for the seat. Both women are Republicans.

In District 5, Stephen Chapman of Alexandria and Ashley Ellis of Monroe are running for the seat. Both candidates are Republicans.

In District 7, Holly Franks Boffy of Milton and Timala "Timmie" Melancon of Gueydan are running for the seat. Boffy is a Republican and Melancon is an Independent.

In District 8, Preston Castille of Baton Rouge; Vereta Tanner Lee of Baton Rouge;Jonathan Loveallof Clinton and Chakesha Webb Scott of Zachary are running for the seat. All four candidates are Democrats.
