Community leaders unveiled their community placemaking plans at The Grand Opera House of the South in Crowley tonight.
Those plans are designed to spur economic development in each of the parish’s communities by bringing the arts and educational and technology programs to those areas.
The goal is to help people gain work skills even if they’ve never gone to college.
“We want to make each area a place where people can live and work and maybe not necessarily have to leave their rural community. You can still enjoy that small town feel without having to leave for work,” said Acadia Arts Council President Desiree Doucet.
