The Acadia Parish Police Jury meets today at 5:30 P.M.
Among the items on the agenda is a public hearing on the abandonment of Lake Road.
Also on the agenda is a resolution that would authorize the police jury president to sign an agreement with the the Acadia Parish School Board. The agreement would provide school buses and drivers in the event of an emergency evacuation; the buses would be used to transport evacuees to shelters.
Another agreement up for consideration would authorize the Police Jury to use and occupy school board facilities on a temporary basis to conduct emergency, disaster-related activites.
The police jurors also will discuss the on-going issues with Acadian Ambulance. The agenda has an item to discuss the company’s plan to address the jury’s concerns regarding operations. The plan was scheduled to be delivered earlier this month, but the jury gave the company more time to produce the plan.
