Man arrested in I-10 vehicle burglary spree booked in Acadia Parish jail

UPDATE:  At 5:30 PM, officers booked Daniel Deshawn White into the Acadia Parish Jail on two counts of simple burglary.

Officials say that numerous other jurisdictions are expected to place additional charges. Officers expect at least one more individual will be arrested in the near future.

Arrest warrants have been issued for a Houston man identified as a suspect in a vehicle burglary spree targeting businesses along I-10.

Rayne Police say 22-year-old Daniel Deshawn White of Houston was identified by several departments as a suspect in connection with the burglaries. Arrest warrants were issued for White on two counts of simple burglary by Rayne Police. A bond of $250,000 has been placed on Smith.

More warrants are expected from Crowley PD, Lafayette PD, and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Rayne Police say that White and several co-conspirators are allegedly responsible for 39 vehicle burglaries along I-10. Detectives are still working to identify the others involved.

White is currently housed at the Houston Jail awaiting extradition. He is expected to be transported to Acadiana on Friday, March 28.

An investigation is being completed by Rayne Police and Calcasieu Deputies in Houston.
